Melissa Lingo, aka meka, has led an unconventional and somewhat nomadic life, she was raised in an isolated Californian mountain town dedicated entirely to astronomical research, followed by slivers of her life spent in Brazil, India, Cambodia and Budapest before eventually arriving at Prague where she lives high in the mountains.
With her new single, Tomato Song, meka hits the right spot. It has beautiful drums backed by finger-plucked guitar whose melodies not only provide movement, but also sparkle like glitter. The vocals deliver an intelligent story, slipping in and out of melancholy. It really makes your mind think.
About the track, meka says: ”Tomato song is ripe with rot, an ode to the in between, to the Graveyard of Dreams, which also happens to be the Fertile Compost for Hope.”
