Faroese music sensation jazzygold just released it’s been a while, her debut EP. It has soulful layers and an unmistakable identity. You’re going to love this project, I’m sure of it.
welcome to my head is the first track to be encountered. Its lyrics explore feelings of self-doubt, comparison, and jealousy, especially in the context of personal and career growth. jazzygold feels stuck while others around her are thriving (“everyone I know are doing big things”), which makes her feel insecure and frustrated. The beat and guitar melodies twirl in an arrangement that represents both emotions.
homerun follows. It reflects on growing up feeling different, struggling to connect, and dealing with family hardships. But jazzygold never lost hope or gratitude, even in the face of challenges. This speaks volumes about her strength.
Thirdly, we’ve ex-friends. Throughout, jazzygold discusses how she was hurt more by old friends than by ex-lovers, realizing that it was her closest friends who were the most damaging. I truly admire the build-up of the chorus here, as it intensifies the entire tone. Quite fascinating.
The fourth track of the project is here for the ride. jazzygold talks about escaping stress and seeking fun after a tough week. She achieves this by socializing with friends, having a good time, and letting go of worries. However, by the end, there’s a shift. The excitement wears off, and exhaustion sets in, showing that living a high-energy lifestyle isn’t always fulfilling (”call the taxi cause i’m getting tired”).
we’re alright express deep appreciation for someone who brings warmth, comfort, and security. jazzygold flutters around the song with diamond tones. She shows great optimism here, making this song feel celebratory.
gold ends the EP. It tells the tale of “Little Jazzy”, who started as courageous, but was later told to stay in line and dim her light. As she grows, she reclaims her confidence, embraces who she is, and steps into her power.
jazzygold has plenty of stories to tell as you can read. She’s so inspirational. And she continues to create music that moves the heart. Check out it’s been a while below!
