Singer-songwriter India Thieriot drops her new single Stagnant, which she wrote after turning 25 and feeling overwhelmed by the realization that something in her life needed to change. In the chorus, she hints at the dilemma of wanting to move forward but not knowing where to go, singing, “I don’t want to stagnate, but I don’t know where to go.”
But despite all the uncertainty, Thieriot remains positive, which is important. You should always try to keep your head up and hope for the best.
Stagnant has great production. It mixes alternative r&b with indie pop and sounds different from anything else. The drums, in particular, are notable. The vocals have a significant impact as well, further elevating the song’s vibe.
