Amanda Cy’s new single, Ride, is about questioning someone’s decision to be with you and wanting them to be absolutely certain before becoming too attached. The lyrics reflect a mix of vulnerability and anxiety, underlining the contrast between appearing confident on the outside while feeling uncertain inside.
Ride has balanced indie pop production. Soft textures propel the sound forward and veer in the footsteps of SZA, Steve Lacy, and Chiild. The vocals swirl around in an iconic way, so props to them.
