Naghmeh (she/her), an Iranian-Canadian singer songwriter based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, releases her latest single, The Situation. It addresses the tension between staying in a situation that once felt like a dream but now feels suffocating, and the fear of losing everything by walking away. Like, who are you if you abandon your plans?
The instrumentation of this song provides an organic sonic landscape that mirrors its pronounced emotional quality. The drums range from subtle, restrained beats in the verses to more intense, driving rhythms in the chorus. The bass imparts an extra layer of groove, and in conjunction with the guitars and modular synths, it really sounds striking. The vocals impressively hover over the soundscape.
