Atlanta-based indie rocker Zoe Bayani doesn’t spare any details on her latest single Lamb. And thank god she doesn’t, because what we get is a raw, emotionally immersive track that feels like a sacred confession. If you’ve ever felt like you loved too loudly, too deeply, or too ‘wrong,’ it will meet you right in that vulnerable place.
Inspired by the Adoration of the Lamb panel from the Ghent Altarpiece, Bayani reimagines the sacrificial lamb not just as a symbol of devotion, but of unreciprocated devotion. It’s a metaphor that runs deep through the song’s lyrical fabric.
The production, overseen by Tomas Uribe, wraps the whole thing in a post-grunge meets dream-rock haze. It’s not dynamic for the sake of being dynamic; it simmers when it needs to. With the help of her bandmates, the soundscape breathes like a living thing, rising and falling with every emotion.
