Singer-songwriter r e l releases her new single, ROBOT. Its lyrics explore the desire to switch off, to become a “robot”, emotionless, untouchable, unfazed, as a kind of survival mechanism.
I love the production here. Catchy electronic textures float beneath the surface, giving the track a futuristic, almost weightless feel, like you’re drifting through space in slow motion. Then there are the grounding influences of sun-drenched guitars, which lend a strong character to the mix.
ROBOT is for anyone who’s ever thought, “I wish I didn’t feel this much,” but still chooses to feel anyway. Check it out below!
