Known for her punchy singles In Love with a Psycho and Make It on My Own, where dark humor and high energy ruled, Kat Brix now delivers something far more vulnerable. “How to Be Alone feels like showing someone my diary,” she says. “it’s not wrapped in any kind of self-irony or humor. It’s just pure, raw emotion”
Written with Brandon Beal and produced by William Meyrick, the song explores the pain of unhealthy attachment patterns and the difficult path of learning to stand on your own. The lyrics keep being fascinating until the last second.
I love the production here, which fuses the rhythms of drum & bass with the melodies of pop music. The outcome is a dynamic, emotionally charged sound that hits hard but stays intimate.
