There are covers, and then there are reinventions. Estella Dawn’s rendition of Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black, falls firmly into the latter. With raw intensity, the San Diego-based indie-pop artist transforms the beloved classic into something wholly affecting.
“I’ve always been drawn to Amy’s unapologetic emotion,” Estella shares. “The song has such an intense vulnerability, and I wanted to bring my own perspective to it, creating a version that speaks to my audience in a way that feels personal and real.”
The production is striking, featuring expressive melodies and a vocal performance so powerful that it feels as though you’re standing alone in an empty room, surrounded only by memories.
