What do you get when you mix infectious rhythms, intricate chord changes, and a splash of psychedelia? The answer is Meggie Lennon’s new song Actress (from her debut album Desire Days), which pulses with late-night energy and emotional electricity. It sounds absolutely phenomenal.
The lyrics to Actress are a layered, introspective look at performance in relationships, vulnerability, and the blurred lines between persona and authenticity. They’re easy to admire.
The song’s music video turns expectations upside down in the most charming way possible, anchored by a star you’d never expect: 80-year-old Gilles Bonvallet, a man who dances like nobody’s watching (but everyone should be). At my age, I’m often alone,” he said on set. “Meeting Meggie, and doing this together, was marvellous.”
