French-Senegalese artist anaiis grew up between continents; moving from Toulouse to Dublin and Dakar before settling in Oakland California. Deus Deus serves as the first single from her new solo album, coming this September. It’s a spiritual reflection on finding strength through struggle and thanking a higher power for someone who brings comfort and inspiration. There’s a lot of power in the lyrics.
The production keeps things simple yet rich, with an addictive bass underpinning it all. Some catchy riffs rise above the groove, making the sound even more soulful. Layered vocals bring the narrative to life.
