Dutch singer-songwriter Maxime recently released her new single, Als jij het wil. When she wrote it, she was missing a dear friend who had passed, her grandmother who was dying, and an ex with whom she had broken up. The song talks about the pain of being in that place where you want to call someone, but you can’t. You hope they’ll call you instead, just because it’s a sunny day and you’re thinking of them.
The song’s acoustic guitar arrangement is beautiful, closely matching the vulnerability in Maxime’s voice. She portrays sorrow in a very real way. It’s possible you’ll shed a tear or two.
