We all have those days when we don’t feel quite as lucky as we’d want. During such instances, ZØYA’s third EP, Alone, But Not Lonely, is the perfect remedy. It moves from moments of uncertainty and betrayal to self-reflection and growth, before arriving at empowered solitude and inner peace. By the end, you’re left feeling lighter, stronger, and proudly celebrating your own company.
Eight tunes make up the EP and are well-intertwined. The lyrics in On My Own and So Many Reasons strike me as particularly notable. They feel like they were written for ‘you’, telling you to keep going. Alone, But Not Lonely also excels instrumental-wise. Back in Place, which is self-produced, sounds fantastic, for example. The vocals remain stable throughout and never waver, making them exemplary.
ZØYA refuses to succumb to the influence of others. She believes in her own specialness, and Alone, But Not Lonely reflects that. It doesn’t feel commercial, but rather genuine. These are songs with soul, a rarity in modern music.
Alone, But Not Lonely provides so much comfort. I definitely recommend checking it out. You’ll love everything you hear, I promise. November is officially ZØYA’s month!
