Sister duo Charm of Finches delivers intricate folk-pop that’s simultaneously graceful and darkly bewitching. Their new single, Meteor, came out not long ago. It examines the sometimes fraught relationship we have with ourselves. The lyrics are wonderfully written, inspiring deep reflection.
The track is accompanied by an official video directed by Charm of Finches, which features elegant choreography and shamanic feathered costumes made by the band. Of the visuals, the band add:“We love to create music videos that are sort of like mini short films. We drew aesthetic inspiration from Yellow Jackets with a sprinkle of Narnia. We got out the glue guns and handcrafted elven twig crowns and feathered costume pieces, and even painted an animal skull mask. We collaborated with our incredible friends who helped us design and put together the costumes, source props as well as dance and act in it! We wanted to capture a magical, powerful, natural world and incorporate the beauty of the Australian landscape.”
Meteor has beautiful instrumentation. I particularly enjoy its strings and drums. The vocals are dreamy, but not without emotion. Every note hits.
With Meteor, Charm of Finches truly shows that they understand the power of music. Check it out below!
