Quicksand is Maddie Little’s new single. Written during a period of genuine uncertainty, the song documents the experience of watching someone pull away in real time and turning the blame inward instead of outward. Little has been clear that this isn’t a breakup song in the traditional sense. It’s what comes before. The silence, the distance, the self-questioning that fills the space where communication used to be.
I love the production here. Soft, controlled vocals sit against a fuller band presence, setting up a tension that symbolizes the song’s emotional core. Truly brilliant!
For anyone who has ever blamed themselves first and searched for the answers later, this one will hit close to home. Quicksand can be streamed now!
