Virginia Woolf walked into the River Ouse on a March morning in 1941, stones weighing down her coat, a note left behind for her husband. She had been fighting her mind her entire life. That morning, she stopped fighting.
I Am Boleyn’s new single, Into the Water, takes Woolf’s life, work, and death as a starting point and explores the tension between beauty and honesty, performance and reality, the smile everyone sees and the person faking it underneath.
The production sounds brilliant, taking hints from both indie pop and indie rock. I love how things unfold. The vocals feel urgent, which intensifies the meaning of the lyrics.
