Lefuturewave is a music blog based in the Netherlands. We feature emerging as well as established artists.
I find it profoundly fitting that a song celebrating the foundations that hold us together was written across an ocean. Allison Leah in Nashville, Tennessee and Luna Keller in Cologne, Germany crafted Cornerstone without ever sharing the same room, but their joint creation feels both intimate and cohesive.
The lyrics drift between heaviness and gratitude, never settling too long on either side. It’s honest in a way that feels necessary, acknowledging that even our most cherished relationships exist within the context of difficulty.
Musically, Cornerstone is committed to organic instrumentation, and it shows. Acoustic guitars provide the backbone, while crisp mandolin contributes texture and movement. Lush background vocals form comfort, wrapping around the lead melodies like an embrace. Punchy drums drive the song forward purposefully, preventing the wistfulness from becoming melancholy.
The story of Cornerstone doesn’t end with the recording. This spring, Allison Leah and Luna Keller will embark on a tour together across Germany and Switzerland, finally meeting in person to perform the song they created from thousands of miles apart. This is so beautifully circular.
