Deep winter does something to the mind. The world goes super silent, and suddenly there’s too much room for everything you’ve been avoiding to move in and make itself comfortable.
Otracami wrote Perfect Reach in that very stillness, borrowing a picking pattern from Adrianne Lenker’s songwriting class and letting it carry her to haunting, image-driven, and honestly a little villainous places. The Mariana Enriquez novel she was reading at the time, a dark epic fantasy about the Argentine dictatorship, was clearly in the room too. You can feel it.
I appreciate the mysterious sound here, which fits the subject well. The vocals hit the mark immediately too.
With Perfect Reach, Otracami continues to amaze. Check it out below!
