Written during the COVID-19 lockdown, the song examines how trying to be what others want prevents genuine connection. As she explains, “When I’m not myself… I can’t have real connection because I’m not connecting as myself.”
I like the production here, which radiates creativity. Its build-up keeps unfolding in unexpected ways, layering textures and sounds that draw you deeper into the emotion of the track.
