Elyse Saunders releases her new single, COWBOY UP. Written in Nashville alongside Grammy-nominated songwriter Bonnie Baker and Raquel Cole, the song reframes “cowboy up” not as toughness for its own sake, but as a whole mindset.
The inspiration for the lyrics arrived mid-session, when Saunders mentioned she had been watching 1883 and kept returning to Elsa, the show’s lead character. It was the first time Saunders had written a song inspired by a fictional character, but the connection felt immediate and personal. She saw parts of herself in Elsa. Chances are, a lot of listeners will too.
The production of COWBOY UP rocks. It maintains tension throughout with solid guitar work and drums. The vocals sound convincing, putting emphasis on emotion.
This is country-pop with real backbone. Fans of Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley, Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Stapleton, and Gabby Barrett will feel right at home. Start listening below!
