Some artists build a world so fully realized that stepping into a new release feels like returning somewhere familiar. Venus is one of them, and Asking For A Friend is exactly the type of song that reminds you why you missed her.
With its self-awareness and fun lyrical style, the song talks about the growth of self-awareness without going overboard. I really like how well the lines go together.
The accompanying instrumental sounds brilliant. It’s mostly breezy, but can also be gritty, especially at the end. The vocals sound convincing, having a wonderful attitude.
Asking For A Friend is Venus’ first single of 2026 and the first glimpse at an EP arriving this fall. A very good reason to start paying attention if you haven’t already. Check out the song below!
