Rising star Freya Everest presents her new mesmerizing art-pop single Moniqué. Inspired by Man Ray’s photograph Le Violon d’Ingres, it tells a story of a woman who escapes with a photographer in pursuit of what seems to be admiration, but turns out to be a controlling relationship. The lyrics don’t spell everything out. On the contrary, they drift between moments, desire, trust, doubt, like you’re watching the relationship slowly change in real time.
Moniqué mixes electronic elements with folk sensibilities, following Freya’s instinct for experimentation. Her velvety vocal delivery floats over a bed of low-key beats and intricate harmonies, forming an abstract painting rendered in sound.
Everest is a true innovator. With Moniqué, she truly steals the show. Check it out below!
