Buzzing Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Fia James is back in full swing with her debut EP, spotless state of mind. It’s the title track that demands the most attention. The lyrics here are about repeating unhealthy patterns in relationships and struggling to break out of cycles of self-sabotage.
The sound sits somewhere between indie and alt-pop, powered by beautiful guitar work that occasionally brings Gracie Abrams to mind. The chorus has a certain catchiness that’s almost impossible to pinpoint, but it immediately hooks you. The vocal is cool and, especially in combination with the drums, makes for a punchy whole.
Fia didn’t need to prove herself, but she does so anyway in spotless state of mind. Check out the song below, and don’t forget to continue with the rest of the EP afterwards!
