New York-based singer songwriter Sarah Katherine Lawless releases her new single, Something’s In The Air. It has a warm, breezy production that builds up slowly and immerses you in this way. The vocals are very decisive, which only increases their power.
Something’s In The Air takes stock of the seemingly endless chaos in our modern day. As personal insecurity and societal unrest merge in your mid-twenties, it becomes impossible to separate the inner crisis from the problems around you. Sarah observes the inevitable domino effect of events around her, both small and large: a burning dryer, endless layoffs, societal indifference—everything leads to the clear realization that something is wrong. Although the lightheartedness of the song suggests optimism, she sees it differently. This song is more like a flipbook, a catalog of disorder, with the feeling that something is in the air.
