After two acclaimed albums in the alt-pop sphere, multi-instrumentalist and DIY artist ANNA ARCO has released a new album: Songs from the Past. Protection is one of its stand out tracks. In it, ARCO looks back on a relationship that brought extreme highs and painful lows, admitting that this person broke her countless times but also helped put her back together.
I really like Protection‘s sound. The eerie choirs and crying slide guitar form a dark, melancholic backdrop that suits the song perfectly. ARCO’s vocals balance vulnerability with warmth, making them so impactful.
