Shelby Sanborn is a San Diego-based pop singer-songwriter. Her new single, Cards Spilled Out, sounds really great. It has chord choices you don’t expect from pop and a very catchy chorus. The vocals are, well, iconic.
Cards Spilled Out gives a playful look at Shelby’s own experience of having feelings for someone while trying to keep them under control. She compares herself to a queen and a card player, attempting to play it cool while secretly hoping the other person feels the same. The longer she waits, the harder it becomes to hide what she wants, especially as the frustration of the slow-moving talking stage starts to take over. Every glance, every mention of her name, seems to reveal a little more than she intended, until her cards are completely spilled out.
With this song, Shelby delivers something both sincere and meaningful. Check it out below!
