Singer-songwriter Adelaide Heldman recently released Historical Figure, which talks about wanting to be seen as something more than an idealised woman from a painting or a name in a history book. The lyrics use figures like Helen of Troy, Cleopatra, Marilyn Monroe, Anne Boleyn, Monet, and Picasso to make their point.
Historical Figure sounds brilliant, with its wonderful acoustic and electric guitar work. I really like how they give the song two different sides. Adelaide’s vocal delivery suits the writing perfectly, heightening each emotion.
Heldman is one of those songs that has so much thought behind it. Start listening below!
