Lotte Melief is a Dutch singer and composer creating intimate art-folk and chamber pop shaped by improvisation. Last week, she shared Hey Mother, featuring singer-songwriter and violinist Roosmarijn Tuenter. It explores the bittersweet coexistence of grief and gratitude through the imagined reunion of a mother and child in a moment that could never happen in real life.
Hey mother sounds special. I especially love Oene van Geel’s plucked viola, which adds a lot of texture to the composition. You’ll be hypnotized by the vocals, as everything is so beautifully sung.
Hey mother moves you to your core. Check it out below!
