Introducing: Eyemèr – Soil

Eyemèr (pseudonym of Sarah Devreese) is a singer-songwriter whose style can be compared to artists such as Soko, Daughter, Bon Iver, and Waxahatchee. In 2014, the artist became a finalist in Humo’s Rock Rally. They have also been an opening act for known Belgian musicians such as Marble Sounds and Isbells. For their new EP, the singer-songwriter has collaborated with Michiel De Maeseneer (known for productions for among others Balthazar and Bazart) and Tomas Van Hove.

Soil is a track of Eyemèr’s EP Good Mourning To You and it sounds amazing. I really like the moody acoustic guitar-riffs which create unique atmospheres. Moreover, the vocal performance is captivating until the last note, Eyemèr’s voice is very powerful. Furthermore, I also adore the construction of the chorus!

Lyrically, Eyemèr knows to impress. Soil is about the realisation that you are using love as a tool to flee from your worries. With this track, Eyemèr wants to send the message that love is beautiful but should never be used as an escape. The best kind of love is love between people who each know their own worth and who grow together.

You can say without any doubt that Eyemèr exactly knows how to make good music, Soil has all the elements of a modern masterpiece. Be sure to stream it as soon possible!
