The talented LYYN has released today her new single Heat Wave, an amazing piece of music. I adore the innovative melodies which showcase multiple artistic visions. Besides, LYYN’s vulnerable vocals give the sound an extra dimension. Furthermore, I also really like the construction of the chorus.
Lyrically, LYYN knows to impress. She says about the meaning of the track: ”Last summer, I was inspired to write Heat Wave on a blisteringly hot day thinking about how the slow burn of a new crush can be more exciting than everything that happens afterwards. Feelings that intense are intoxicating in a good way but can also make you sick to your stomach, especially if they’re secretly directed at someone you can’t have in real life. Also, I was initially nervous to write something “sexy” because it was out of my comfort zone musically, but I’m glad I pushed forward and had fun with it! A lot of art and pop culture unfortunately depicts women (especially Asian women) as fantasy objects or passive conquests, so it’s important for me to show how our desires and fantasies are as valid as everyone else’s.”
