Summer Winter gets real about the pressure of feeling behind with her new song IMPATIENT. In her 30s, sober and in a relationship, she found herself getting impatient with where she thought she should be by now. The song explores that familiar habit of measuring yourself against expectations, asking how you can hold on to the people you love while juggling everything else life throws at you.
Musically, IMPATIENT follows a different direction from the rest of Winter’s catalogue, drawing on the 90s trip-hop sounds she loves. I like that she wanted to make something you can actually dance to, even when the lyrics adress the pressure and uncertainty of adulthood.
IMPATIENT leaves us with a few new reasons to keep Winter on our radar. Watching what blooms from here will be exciting. Start listening to the song below!
