Marlo Owczarzak is an independent artist who has amassed a consistent Spotify following with over 25,000 listeners a month.
She recently released new single Cities.
The song features moody melodies, sublime vocals, nostalgic sounds, and memorable hooks. Captivating from the first second.
Marlo’s lyrics are impressive. She writes so well. Every word has a purpose.
Cities captures the desire to move to a city to reinvent oneself. The narrator cycles through the realization that changing location won’t solve all of one’s problems. It’s inspired by romantic portrayals of cities worldwide in songs/media and by the fictional cities described in the book Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Escaping to “cities” can be metaphorical – replaced by other versions of the sentiment “if I could just do this one thing, I would find happiness.”
Marlo creates her own lane. Artistically, she’s brilliant. Cities deserves 5 stars. Iconic piece of music.
