Introducing: Pao Pestana – Culebras (feat. Jackson Mathod)

London based songwriter Pao Pestana releases new single Culebras. This is so perfectly produced, all done by herself. The song features Jackson Mathod on trumpet, who plays with artists such as Stormzy and Jordan Rakei. He’s musically talented. Pao combines stunning vocals with clever lyricism to create something meaningful. An artist full of stories.

Culebras (spanish for “Snakes”) is a hard hitting song, which has a strong political message. In the songwriter’s words: “To be honest, who am I to speak about politics? This is a topic that I always wanted to avoid for many reasons” Pao says. “But the reality of my Venezuela touches me deeply, I see my people, my friends, my family suffering because of the terrible situation they have to live in. It’s a complicated and bizarre reality that I also experienced for most of my life. Although I don’t live there anymore, my heart and my loved ones do, so I need to speak about it”. Hopefully, the future will be brighter.

Pao sings lines like, ”Wait! you think you winning cuz you’re quoted every hour” and ”keep an eye wide, cuz I, cuz I’ve learnt your ways”. She wants to make a statement. That’s powerful. Check out Culebras below. Share it with everyone you know.
