Rising London-based singer-songwriter charly haze unveils hundering electro-pop explosion California, 2am. With her distinctive sound, she creates her own nostalgic pop universe. Catchy vocals flow over pulsing arpeggios and sinister synth melodies, which results in good music. Did I already mentioned the chorus? It’s truly brilliant.
California, 2am describes the ambiguity of a stormy love affair doomed to fail, using metaphors of a car chase to convey the all too relatable head vs heart dichotomy (“I see your conscience in the rear-view mirror”).
If you’re fan of Rüfus du Sol, CHVRCHES, or Digitalism, you’ll probably like this song. Definitely a cool production. Check out California, 2am below!
