Amsterdam based songstress Pieternel releases new single Ugly Beast. With calm guitar and drum work, she creates a moody soundscape. The lyrics are emotive, full of character. Pieternel’s vocal delivery is soulful, conveying the story so well.
Ugly Beast showcases the songstress’ struggle with her burn-out – how she could no longer fight the stresses of life and felt constantly in search of peace. Preventing this was a voice that kept telling her that she was worthless and would never find love. She was inspired to write the song after reading a book that said sometimes facing your demons is the only way to win the battle.
Influenced by artists such as Brandi Carlile, First Aid Kit and Chris Stapleton, Pieternel brings something real to the table. Ugly Beast draws you in immediately. Listen below!
