emaé, a rising British artist, is someone to keep an eye out for this year. With the release of her new single, Over, she demonstrates again how authentic her sound truly is. We hear many soulful and R&B elements throughout. The music has a nostalgia aspect, as well as a modern layer. I really appreciate the vocals, because they convey the lyrics flawlessly, and have a great timbre.
emaé describes the track as follows: ”Over is the sound of me understanding that some people will let you down. Massively. It’s also me wrestling with self-awareness, something I think we all have to do at some point, and accepting the part I was responsible for in some of the hurtful situations I’ve been through. I wrote it after the breakdown of several relationships, while I was paying the price for that misplaced trust. Over is a learning curve.”
