James Askwith, an Oxford-based multi-instrumentalist and producer, and Canadian singer-songwriter Jenn Steeves are the two people behind Slow Drift, an indie project. In their debut single, Oblivion, they turn familiar musical aspects from the 1980s into something new. Hypnotic synths swirl around haunting vocals, generating both energy and momentum. Experimental textures provide ambiances that are immersive.
Oblivion has interesting nostalgic undertones. It will let you jump between dimensions as if you are in a dream. Next year, Slow Drift will release an EP, so we can expect even more greatness.
