From Beks and Lucy Neville’s new single Make Believe, we learned that sometimes things don’t work out the way we planned. Sometimes the person we thought was the love of our lives turns out to be anything but. And that’s okay. It’s okay to be heartbroken, it’s okay to feel lost and confused, and it’s okay to feel like you’ll never be whole again. What’s not okay is staying in a relationship that isn’t working because you’re scared to be alone. The bottom line is this: you deserve better. You deserve someone who loves and values you, someone who makes you feel happy and whole, someone who wants nothing more than to be with you. You deserve happiness, and you deserve to find it with someone who loves you for exactly who you are.
Beks and her cinematographer, Beau Bressington, traveled to Newcastle to shoot a pastel fantasy piece to translate the emotion of the single on film. The video showcases a stunning Australian landscape interpreted as the planet Venus. All styling was done by Beks, who hand-sewed and drew from upcycled designer Kimbra Lou’s eclectic wardrobe.
