Agi considers herself quite a closed off person when it comes to relationships. She’s never been the type to let people in easily, and has always been more comfortable keeping her feelings to herself.
This was especially true when Agi wrote green velvet. At the time, the British artist was going through a very uncertain period in her life – she wasn’t sure what she had or what she could lose. The song was a way for her to explore her feelings about relationships, and to add a bit of romance into a moment that was otherwise quite draining mentally.
The guitar accompaniment in green velvet is simple but entrancing. It provides a mellow backdrop that allows Agi’s singing to be the focus. She has an incredible voice, making her performance all the more fascinating.
