Inky Nite’s latest single, Dream Totem, explores the delicate balance between hope and despair. It’s about the way certain negative emotions can sometimes be so overwhelming, they feel like they’re dragging us down. But it’s also about how we can use those feelings to become stronger.
The production of Dream Totem merits special attention. It fuses 1980s Juno synths, Mellotron choirs, ethereal Omnichords, shimmering guitars and vintage drum samples so effectively. Lead singer Flick West sings well here. She never seems to strain, even when she’s hitting those high notes. Her control is impressive, and it makes her a standout performer.
