We all know the feeling: the honeymoon phase is slowly coming to a close, and the glittery excitement of a romantic future is transforming into quiet, present realism. No matter which end you’re on, coming back down to earth will rock you. You may look at your partner and think, Do I really know this person at all? Is this what I want? Some begin to distance themselves. Others tighten their grip in hopes of keeping love alive, but silently hurting because they know something has changed.

For artist Stevie Zita, this fade-to-black-roll-credits phase of love hit hard, and his latest single Fadeaway is a testament to the grip-tighteners. The airy backbone of the track contrasts with Zita’s expressive and raw vocals (you’re floating but also crying). There’s a subtle pain in his voice, but whether it’s from desperation to hold on or heartbreak from letting go is up to you. With lyrics like, I would trade it all just to be there againStill enchanted by the look in her eyes, Zita has dreamt up the perfect lo-fi lovers limbo anthem to comfort us through the ups and downs of modern romance with Fadeaway.
