Have you ever been in a relationship where you felt like you were always sabotaging it? Like you were doing everything you could to push that person away?
If so, you’re not alone. In her new single, Break My Own Heart, Lucy McWilliams explores the topic of self-sabotage in relationships. She gives an explanation of why we do this, and offers insight and advice for how to overcome it.
At its core, self-sabotage is a way of protecting ourselves. We often behave like this when we feel like we’re not good enough or we’re afraid of getting hurt. We believe that if we push that person away, we won’t get hurt.
Unfortunately, this often ends up hurting us even more in the long run. The best way to overcome self-sabotage is to acknowledge our fears and address them head-on. We need to learn to be vulnerable and let ourselves be loved.
McWilliams’s song is a great starting point for achieving that. It highlights the fact that everyone faces struggles in relationships, and there are ways to deal with them.
