So you’ve been dating someone for a while, and it’s been going great. You think this could be the one. But then, out of nowhere, they start to pull away. They don’t return your texts as quickly, or they stop picking up the phone altogether.

At first you think it’s just a blip, but then the evidence starts to pile up. They’re not really interested in you, are they? This is what Arlo Boe’s new single, Hallucinating, focuses on. It’s about the delusions of dating someone you can’t rely on.

It can be tough to accept that they aren’t the prince on the white horse, but ultimately it’s best to move on. Basically, that’s all you can do.

Hallucinating uses ethereal synths as its driving force. Their presence gives the sound a mysterious tone. The production seems to be influenced by Harry Styles and Dua Lipa, and that’s really cool. Arlo’s vocals soar above the musical landscape, increasing the song’s impact.
