It’s a fact of life that we drift away from those we love. Whether it’s with family, friends or lovers, the distance can hurt the same. Indie artist, Begonia, knows this painful truth all too well. After spending multiple years on and off tour, Begonia has come to accept the effects her absence has had on her most cherished relationships. Following your dreams often comes with a price.

While Begonia’s latest single Right Here addresses this life lesson, it also emphasizes the amount of love and care she has for the ones she misses most. Almost as if she’s a ghost, the chorus echoes: I’m right here…on your shoulder. The writing process for Right Here initially began pre-Covid. However, the bulk of its creation happened in the midst of the pandemic lock down when none of us could truly be together in the ways we so desperately craved. When we cannot be physically there for one another because of opportunity or tragedy, it takes a toll on us as human beings.

Luckily, Begonia takes it all in stride. Her quirky and bubbly onstage identity allows her to draw audiences in with acceptance and light. Right Here may have somber roots, but the song is energetic and poppy. Begonia’s vocals are deep, warm and sexy amidst a divine funk heartbeat. So often, we see pop songs with curated vocals unreflective of the soul within them. Not Begonia. She is a rush of all colors and all senses. The nostalgic depth of her voice reverberates past the beat and right into your bones.
