We’ve all been there—staring out the window, daydreaming about being somewhere else. And for most of us, that somewhere else is often a place we’ve never been before. A place where we can be anyone we want to be, where anything is possible.

For Dutch artist Ninali, that place is Tokyo.

In her new single Tokyo, the singer takes us on a journey to the neon-lit streets of the Japanese capital, painting a picture of a city that remains awake 24 hours a day.

One of the things you might notice when you really listen to the song is Ninali’s impeccable phrasing. Every word is clear as a bell, and she hits every sweet note. But what you might not know is that this is actually really hard to do.

Most singers have to choose between either enunciating their words perfectly or nailing the melody, but Ninali does both effortlessly. It’s a good indication of how technically skilled she is.
