Nicole Issa’s new single, Notes in My Car, is a heartfelt pop song about the moment she found a handwritten note from her ex-partner in her car.

The note was left before they broke up, and it was only when Nicole Issa finally cleaned her car after months of neglect that she found it. The note said something like “I hope you know there is someone out there that always loves you”, which made her laugh because her partner had told her he had fallen out of love with her.

In the track, Nicole details this epiphany, and how it’s left her feeling. She conveys the sense of betrayal and abandonment that comes with being treated so unfairly. But through it all, she maintains her composure and dignity. The lyrics are written in a way that allows the listener to easily imagine themselves experiencing the situation.

I like the production on Notes in My Car. The warm pianos and water-jerking cries of the strings create an emotional ambiance that’s just right for this song. The vocals are powerful and recognizable as Nicole’s. They mesh harmoniously with the instrumentation.
