The lyrics of Natalie McCool’s new single, Show Me What You’re Made Of, are an exploration of our reflections in the mirror and all the versions of us that exist.
The verses focus on the idea of being strong in the face of adversity and of learning from your mistakes. With each line, we learn more about resilience.
In the end of the song, there’s a beautiful feeling of acceptance, almost as if Natalie is embracing her own life journey and decisions — whatever they may have been — with love and grace. It’s a message we could all do well to remember: no matter where we’re in life, it’s never too late to make something beautiful from our experiences.
The production on this track is excellent; it definitely puts the focus on Natalie’s voice while still providing a nice backdrop to set the mood. The outro is especially powerful; you feel like you can almost reach out and hold the emotions that she’s expressing – frustration, hope, longing – all combined into one massive storm of sound that tugs at your heartstrings.
