Sometimes, when you’re going through a lot, it can be hard to put what you’re feeling into words. But that’s what art is for, right? To express the inexpressible?
Ellise’s new single, Did It Hurt?, serves as a perfect example of this. It was written after a breakup, and it captures the full range of emotions resulting from having to let someone go.
Did It Hurt? starts with acoustic guitars, giving it a sentimental and melancholic aura. But then, the drum-heavy beat comes in and instantly transforms the mood to something more intense. Eventually, as the outro approaches, the volume drops again, allowing the vocals to show their full strength.
Ellise is incredibly proud of Did It Hurt?, and she hopes that it will be a source of comfort for anyone who needs it.
