You know the feeling all too well. You try to move on, you really do. But somehow, you just can’t seem to get them out of your head. They’re always there, haunting you with what could have been.
Lucy Lane’s third single, Back to Me, is about the discomforting mix of denial and longing that comes after another failed relationship. She captures the experience perfectly in her lyrics, and her voice accentuates the bittersweetness of it all.
Back to Me has a nostalgic aura to it, but its combination of elements ensures that it will never go out of style. The pounding drums and melancholic synths create a musically and emotionally balanced production. In particular, since it has influences ranging from INXS to Hole, I cannot stop listening.
Aside from being a sad song, Back to Me is also a beautiful one. And it reminds us that we’re not alone in trying to figure out what’s going on when someone leaves us behind.
