In her new single, Not the Only One, award-winning pop/adult pop artist Sydney Mae shows how alt-pop should sound. Its production is pretty remarkable, and while it starts off very understated, it builds nicely from 1:03 on. Mae’s vocals, which move like feathers, totally steal the show here.
The lyrics of Not the Only One are based on multiple experiences of outgrowing significant one-sided relationships. It was written when Mae validated and supported others’ experiences without reciprocating or acknowledging her own. This realization led Mae to give her feelings the attention they needed to heal naturally.
Not the Only One‘s uniqueness and intriguing nature are sure to appeal to you. Even if you listen to it a thousand times, it won’t get old.
